I like how the only things that you cant see through in this painting (aka the only permanent things) Are Woody Guthrie and the land. I also like that he is riding on a rail car, which is a nice tie in to the previous painting.
I always loved that sticker on his guitar too. As soon as I saw it, I knew exactly who that was. I love how this idea is developing (and the breakneck pace). Cant wait to see where it goes next.
Are you thinking two or three paintings ahead, or one at a time and waiting for inspiration for the next?
Matt, this is so great. It is so clear that you are such a talented artist. However, I am so sad that your great work is gone forever after you are done with it. I LOVE the first one of the two people. It is so sweet and sincere, they looks so happy and content. I feel so many emotions when I look at it.
How long does it take to paint one of these paintings? Are you ever hesitant to paint over it? Have you held on to one longer because you didn’t want to paint over it?
Do you have a picture that you work off of, or is this straight from your imagination/memory?
The base line in Beat It is so good it is impossible for me to choose any other of his songs. Katie asks some very good questions.
I've been spending a few hours per painting and then a good half hour trying to get the right photo. There is something liberating about painting over the paintings so I am not that reluctant to do so. Having a photo record of the changes helps with that. I am definitely referencing photos when I am trying to do a portrait or make something easily identifiable. Thanks to all for the feedback.
